1. Introduction
AfriValue (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal information when you use the AfriValue platform.
By creating an account or using AfriValue, you agree to the practices described in this Notice, together with our Terms of Use.
AfriValue acts as a Data Controller for the information we collect directly and as a Data Processor for certain information processed on behalf of users.
2. Definitions
- Personal Data: Any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.
- Processing: Any operation performed on personal data (collection, storage, use, sharing, deletion).
- Service Provider: A user offering services on AfriValue.
- Client: A user purchasing services on AfriValue.
3. Information We Collect
AfriValue collects only the information necessary to operate the platform, manage accounts, process payouts, and maintain a safe marketplace.
3.1 Information You Provide
3.1.1 As a service provider:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Country of residence
- Proof of identity
- Profile information (bio, skills, portfolio, profile photo)
- Payout information: bank account details (bank name, account number, account holder name); mobile money details (provider, wallet number, wallet name)
3.1.2 As a user:
- Name
- Country of residence
- Username
- Date of birth
3.2 Public Profile Information
3.2.1 As a service provider, the following information is visible to other users:
- Display name
- Profile photo
- Bio and skills
- Portfolio items
- Service categories
- Ratings and reviews received and those provided
- Completion rate and response rate
3.2.2 As a client, the following information is visible to other users:
- Ratings and reviews received and those provided
- Hiring history (number of hires)
- Display name
3.3 User-Generated Content
We collect and store:
- Reviews you write
- Ratings you give
- Comments
- Work samples you upload
- Order descriptions and requirements
3.4 Communications & Messages
We store:
- Messages exchanged between users
- Attachments sent through the platform
- Communication timestamps
- Dispute-related communications
Admin access to communications and chats. AfriValue stores messages, attachments, and communications exchanged through the platform to enable safe interactions, support dispute resolution, and maintain platform integrity.
When AfriValue may access communications. AfriValue’s authorized personnel may access user communications only under the following circumstances:
- A dispute is opened and messages are required to resolve the issue.
- Fraud, abuse, or safety concerns are detected or reasonably suspected.
- A legal request or regulatory obligation requires access.
- To enforce AfriValue’s Terms of Use, including investigating violations such as harassment, scams, or attempts to transact off-platform.
Access is strictly limited to trained personnel and is logged and monitored.
Use of automated systems and AI. Notwithstanding the above, AfriValue may use automated technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine-learning systems, to:
- Detect potential fraud, scams, or malicious activity
- Identify attempts to circumvent platform rules
- Flag harassment, abusive behavior, or unsafe content
- Identify attempts to move transactions off-platform
- Maintain the safety and integrity of the marketplace
These systems may scan or analyze communications without human review, unless a risk signal triggers manual investigation. AfriValue does not use automated systems to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without human oversight.
What AfriValue does not do.
- We do not read or monitor all messages manually.
- We do not sell or share message content with advertisers.
- We do not use message content for marketing or profiling unrelated to safety.
- We do not access communications without a valid operational, safety, or legal reason.
Why this access is necessary. This limited and controlled access helps AfriValue:
- Resolve disputes fairly
- Protect users from fraud and abuse
- Maintain a trustworthy marketplace
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
- Enforce platform rules and prevent harm
3.5 Information We Receive from YouVerify
As a service provider, when you provide your identity document, that information is provided to AfriValue’s identity verification partner, YouVerify. AfriValue does not receive identity documents.
We receive only:
- Verification status (Verified / Not Verified / Failed / Pending)
- Verification reference ID
- Verification timestamp
We do not receive:
- ID images
- ID numbers
- Biometric data
- Selfies
- Document metadata
3.6 Information We Receive from Flutterwave
As a client, when you provide your payment information, such as your card details, that information is provided to AfriValue’s payment solution partner, Flutterwave, to process payments.
AfriValue does not receive or store:
- Card numbers
- CVV codes
- Bank login details
We receive only:
- Payment confirmations
- Payout confirmations
- Transaction reference IDs
- Status updates
3.7 Automatically Collected Information
To protect the platform and improve performance, we collect:
- IP address
- Device information
- Browser type
- Operating system
- Login timestamps
- Usage logs
- Clickstream data
- Search history
- Order history
- Dispute history
- Fraud-prevention signals
- Device fingerprints
3.8 Cookies & Analytics
We use cookies and analytics tools to:
- Improve platform performance
- Remember user preferences
- Analyze usage patterns
- Detect fraud
You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not function properly.
3.9 Children’s Data
AfriValue does not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18 years old. If we discover such data, we will delete it immediately.

- Customer support tools
These vendors may process limited personal data on our behalf.

If AfriValue is acquired or merged, personal data may be transferred as part of the transaction.

We may share data with authorities when required by law.
We do not sell personal data.

We retain data only as long as necessary.
